Paris to Cardiff-best mode of transportation?

My daughter is in Paris and wants to visit a friend that is studying in Cardiff. What is the best mode of transportation for a quick weekend trip? She would like to leave on Friday evening and return Sunday evening. The flights are pretty limited and the times are not the best for a short weekend trip. I%26#39;ve tried to untangle the rail schedules but I%26#39;m just getting confused. I was even thinking a flight to London and catch the train from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Best way is with bmibaby.com they fly direct from CDG twice a day once on Sundays. This is by far the best way trust me I am Welsh and use this service once a month.

You could fly to Heathrow and take the shuttle to Paddington where you can catch a train to Cardiff but this will take much longer, the planes on this route are often delayed and British train system is awful on the weekend.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for the info. I%26#39;ll give the site a try tomorrow when my brain is hopefully and alert and awake!

There is only one company that operates CDG-Cardiff flights, it%26#39;s bmibaby, bookable of www.bmibaby.com. Hurry up, since there is only one Sunday return flight, and, when I checked this morning, next Sunday%26#39;s was already full!

Two alternative solutions:

- Booking a KLM flight through Amsterdam, about a 4 hour journey altogether

- Flying to Bristol (plenty of direct flights with AF), then taking the shuttle from the airport to Bristol Temple Meads train station 7 miles away (20 mn), and then one of the bi hourly trains to Cardiff (45 to 50 mn). Time wise, the Bristol solution seems better than the KLM one, even better if your daughter%26#39;s friend could drive the 70 km from Cardiff to Bristol to pick her up directly there...

You%26#39;ve already got all the good answers. Flying to Cardiff directly is the easiest way and BMIbaby are one of the lowcost operators (like Ryanair).

The last time I went though it was via Bristol where we rented a car. It depends on if you%26#39;ll have time to drive around the countryside and Welsh Vallys or not :)

Sorry, mea culpa : the CDG-BRS flights are operated by BA, not AF.

I passed this info. on to my daughter before going to bed last night. She got right on it this morning (Paris time) and was able to get the flights for the weekend of Nov. 4. She said to thank everyone for their help. Hopefully she%26#39;ll sign on to Trip Advisor Forum and start using it herself. Although, as long as she%26#39;s studying and enjoying Paris, I don%26#39;t mind helping with the travel plans. Thanks to everyone for their responses.
