Roller skates on Friday night . From Montparnasse through...

Anyone with experience ? Ok for beginners ? I had a look at their website, they say beginners stay away¨

I%26#39;ve seen them on a friday night passing rue de la Paix at midnight running down to Vendôme %26amp; Concorde.

There were hundreds of skaters .. very impresive.

Any bad experience ?

Those ambulances following along aren%26#39;t exactly there to add %26#39;..local color..%26#39; But an acquaintance of ours (an occasional, average week-end roller blader) did this run last year and came through worn but otherwise unbroken. There is also a lees %26#39;..intensive..%26#39; skate on Sundays, perhaps better suited to novice and those who consider themselves %26#39;..intermediate..%26#39; (but are probably just kiddin%26#39; themselves) and follows different pre-detewrmined routes each week---

Hi Guguk,

Here%26#39;s my favorite way to enjoy paris rollers without ever breaking a sweat. Go to La Coupole at 102 blvd Montparnasse,and ask to be seated at the terrace. Order a lovely platter of langostines and demi bouteille of chablis. Drink slowly and watch the blur of humanity speed past you. And when someone falls, which happens much too often, pour yourself another glass and thank your lucky stars that it wasn%26#39;t you!!!!!!!!

|||

It is alot of fun! Little kids, families, and all are out there too! I%26#39;ve even seen parents and young kids on skates and little ones being pushed in strollers. Of course, they are all at the back of group! No need to put beginers or young ones in danger.

The first aid is there slowly following for anyone how falls or trips or somehow gets hurt.

Hi trisha:

It%26#39;s getting night over here.I do prefer the Meursault , actually I am having a glass of Brouilly..

|||

This skate is NOT for beginners. There have even been some fatalities. The route changes weekly, so you can never be sure where they%26#39;ll be passing.

|||

yes Gugut, a brouilly is also another very nice choice. tchin tchin!!

|||

Ok , I do not go there . Fatalities !!

|||

How did the deaths happen?

They normally close down the roads don%26#39;t they?

Don%26#39;t the skaters wear head protection?

|||

There don%26#39;t seem to be any rules regarding protection gear. The traffic is held up while the crowd passes through, but there are thousands skating at fast speeds, and close together, quickly dodging around anyone who falls. You have to be a good, experienced skater and be able to quickly recover if you fall. There are other skate events, ie. Sundays on the quais, for less experienced skaters.
