Taking taxi with a toddler.

My wife, my 3 year old son and I are planning to stop over in Paris on our way to Asia. Since we are not bringing a child car seat with us, I was wondering if airport taxis in Paris have child car seat or if this is required by law? I am debating whether to take a taxi or some other form of airport transfer.

The taxis do not have car seats. They are required by law, but not for taxis. You can either bring your own, rent a car with a car seat or take the RER.

PS if you are more comfortable having a car seat, I%26#39;d suggest traveling with one. He can use it on the flight over and you will probably not find them in Asian taxis, either.

We%26#39;ve travelled extensively in Europe with our two boys....now thankfully beyond the age of carseats! This always worried me too, especially the way some taxi drivers drive or when driving in accident prone places like Sicily where they all drive like racecar drivers! When going %26quot;one place%26quot; in Europe or travelling exclusively by rental car, we would take the car seats along. When we weren%26#39;t always going to have a rental car, we found it really difficult to drag a carseat along.

I finally found a great option for kids 3 and up.....they are the restraint systems that fit regular seatbelts to fit a small child. I found one I liked at either the Right Start or OneStepAhead website. Sorry, can%26#39;t remember which! We used them everywhere and finally left them by mistake when we turned in a rental car in Florida, so I had to get another set for the kids. I am a safety nut and my husband is an automotive engineer, and we felt very comfortable with these systems. They literally held the kids so tight they were not going to move an inch in case of a collision. And they were easy to put onto seatbelts once you got the hang of it.

Good luck!

Thank you. That%26#39;s what I have thought too. We decided to take an airport shuttle that will provide a car seat.

Can you tell me which airport shuttle you use? I usually take the RER, but this time, it appears as though my luggage will preclude that possibility, and I will be traveling with an almost 5 year old (on the small side).

Thanks,
