CDG to City

What is the best way to get from CDG to Paris? I am staying in ER 1, near the Lourve.

Thanks.

The %26#39;..best way..%26#39; is probably a discrete, chauffer-driven Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan. The cost will run somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-250 €uro (one-way---http://www.limos.com/dir_getPicture.asp?p=x%26amp;picID=211051016256). Another fast and efficient mode of airport transfer for the single traveler will be the CITYBIRD service-- http://www.city-bird.com/anglais/welcome.php The least expensive mode of airport transfer will be via the #351 public bus (making 30-odd stops between CDG and Place de la Nation.

There is *** NO *** one, single %26quot;..best way..%26quot; for ALL travelers...under ALL conditions....in ALL circumstance.....%26#39;..one-size-does-NOT-fit-all..%26#39;. So what %26#39;..size..%26#39; are you? How many in your traveling party? How much luggage? Any personal mobility issues? Budget constraints? Difficulty in reading signs and following directions? What is your specific final destination/address within Paris?

I have always taken a taxi parisien from CDG to the

city centre. Out gate 18 and stand in line for a short

time. Last month from CDG to the 6th, 2 people and

4 pieces of luggage was around E40.

You don%26#39;t have to pay high prices to get from CDG to the city center. We stayed near the Louvre this past August. After exiting the terminal we looked for the Paris Roissybus (the airport is actually in the suburb of Roissy).

Ask for the bus stop if you can%26#39;t find it yourself. These buses run regularly to and from the airport and make several stops in the city. Get off at the Opera Garnier, the closest stop to the Louvre area. From there you can take a short taxi ride. We actually walked it, luggage and all! When leaving Paris we took a taxi (too tired to walk this time) to the Opera Garnier and hopped the bus back to the airport. Don%26#39;t remember the cost, but it was cheap.

I%26#39;ve only stayed near Gare de Lyon, but I%26#39;ve found the Air France Bus to be quite efficient. It%26#39;s 26Euros round trip. You can always buy your ticket on board in Euros from the driver. The bus goes to several key areas in Paris. Just remember where the loader puts your bags - so that when you get off the %26quot;UN-loader%26quot; can find your%26#39;s easily.

How long is the bus ride from CDG to Opera Garnier?

|||

The bus ride on the Roissybus from CDG to Opera Garnier is about 45 minutes. By the way, be sure to bring one of those nice plastic coated flexi-maps with you. They%26#39;re really helpful. If you use the metro, buy 10 tickets at a time, it%26#39;s much cheaper that way. If you%26#39;re staying for an extended period by a %26quot;carte orange%26quot; at the metro box office on Monday--it%26#39;s good for a week. AND don%26#39;t forget to visit the Musee d%26#39;Orsay--it%26#39;s gorgeous and it%26#39;s in the Louvre area. Have pastry in the original dining room (not the new cafeteria.) You%26#39;ll feel as though you%26#39;ve stepped back in time. Visit the Marais district too--get off the metro at the Bastille metro stop. Bon Voyage!

Re the plastic-coated, flexible maps that acrossthepond referred to: A really good one is STREETWISE PARIS, mentioned numerous times in this forum. It can be used over and over, get wet, be jammed into your purse or daybag and still be good as new. We also used its metro/RER map constantly.

|||

I have used STREETWISE PARIS continually

and have found it to be an excellent aid

to getting around Paris.

|||

Where do you find the streetwise map?

|||

I bought my STREETWISE PARIS at Barnes %26amp; Noble. They didn%26#39;t have any for months, then all of a sudden they appeared. $7.95 very well spent!
