Dordogne Valley during the winter?

Hi everyone,

I have read such wonderful things about the Dordogne valley that now I think this is a place I must visit during my next trip to France. But since I am traveling during the last week of November, and the weather is cold over there, I was wondering if it really worth it going to the Dordogne valley during this season. The same to Loire valley and Normandy

Please advise!

Thanks!

Check with local tourist offices or the web sites of the sights you want to vist to see if they will be open.

Many of the castles and caves close sometime around the end of November, as there aren%26#39;t enough tourists. I don%26#39;t think most of the hotels, restaurants and B%26amp;B%26#39;s close until December, then re-open around the beginning of April or Easter, whichever comes first.

I would think it would be the same with the castles in the Loire Valley.

If you really want to try it, email me at diane@westwindtours.us, and I%26#39;ll give you some suggestions on places to go and possible places to stay. In the dordogne Valley, you will need to be willing to rent a car, as towns and sights are not close together, and there is little public transport.
