Is it dangerous ?

Hi everyone,

We are thinking of going to France for Xmas.

We wil get the flight to Paris and then hire a car to go down to Marseille.

Do you think that at this time of the year it is dangerous to drive through France because of the weather and of the holidays traffic ?

Would it be a lot of snow %26gt;?

Thanks in advance for your answers :)

I made that drive last Christmas; it was not %26quot;dangerous%26quot; per se, but I wished I had taken the train and rented a car when I got to the South. The weather should be OK, rain is always possible, snow and ice for any extended period is not likely. The drive is down the main autoroute in the country and is pretty stressful; not like driving cross country in North America, for example. Plus gas is around E1.40/liter and tolls are not cheap. The train is also quite a bit faster. Two reasons I could see for driving would be to stop some places along the way or if you have a large group and the total train fares would be a lot more than the expense of driving.
