Eurostar seating

I want to book 2 seats in leisure select - the only option it gives me is side-by-side. Does anyone know if it%26#39;s possible to force the online booking system to allocate the duo 2 seats which face across the table?

I%26#39;m not sure that there is a way that you can %26#39;..force..%26#39; the computer reservations system...probably just to prevent the sort of circumstance, that with two %26#39;..singles..%26#39; on either side of the table, it%26#39;s far less likely that anyone will want the other single and two fares essentially take up all four seats and the table (not that this occured to you). But you might be able to work it out by telephoning the EUROSTAR reservations center directly.

duo two seats are first class. Second class has 4 seats around the table.

DIZ I booked second class, but recieved the first class seating( but not service) .The way I found that out is I noticed my sons seat # and mine were not together, I asked to have it changed at the service desk once we had checked in. When they explained it to me I just kept the ticket as it waOn the way back our tickets were side by side, but facing backwards, ugh, makes me vomit, so I asked about changing seats again, the girl just couldn%26#39;t do it on the computer, but told me to just wait till train started and change seat on my own. Train was not full at all. My son and I ended up each with two seats side by side. Very comfy. Just change seats onboard, no one checks your seat no. and no one cares if you move around( except first class of course)

Except for Friday nights, Sunday nights and the summer season, most Eurostar trains are half empty. As a previous poster said, you are free to move around, there is no conductor on board to check your tickets (this is done by automatic gates in either Waterloo or Gare du Nord), so no panic about seating arrangements.

Thanks for the comments everyone, and sorry, I got the wrong terminology and meant *Club 2* seats which face each other and don%26#39;t appear to be offered on the online system. eurostar.com/UK/…seating_plan.jsp We%26#39;ve travelled Leisure Select/first class a couple of times before and all the Club 2 seats have always been taken - in fact, apart from the first trip, there haven%26#39;t been many spare seats (leaving London Friday lunchtime, returning late afternoon Monday). Tickets are checked at the door to the carriages, so I can%26#39;t imagine we%26#39;d get away with just taking possession of any seats which take our fancy - hence the query to see whether I%26#39;ve missed something on the booking page.

Ah, well, probably better phone and find out ... I feel a trip to Bruges coming on :-)

It%26#39;s been a while but I recall 2-1 seating configuration in 1st on Eurostar, with a few rows of two seat-sets (four seats) separated by tables in 1st as well.

yes exactly, but across the asile from the table of 4 is a table of 2. In second there isnt a table of 2.

Diz, you travel at peak times. As pointed out, weekends are busy, and the train is less likely to be half empty as it was mid day mid week. As for moving around when train starts, yes you can, there is no one checking that you stay in your seat, in fact there is no one who actually cares what empty seat you take once you are in car. But, you most likely won%26#39;t find many empty seats , so for you I guess you will have to purchase ticket online and try and do seat changes in person at station.

Sorry joan1 people do care if you move around - other passengers and Eurostar staff.

I have boarded at Ashford too many time to find that some #@*%26amp;in has sat in our seats becuase no one sat in them at Waterloo - and then they have the cheek to get annoyed becuase we ask them to move! The idea on the Web site of being able to chose seat types (particularly in 1st class) is so you get what you are paying for and want.

Eurostar staff care for safety and security reasons - if there is a crash or a fire they have passenger lists to check.

Also, whether a booking can be changed depends on how much you pay (on the Web site there are pop-ups next to seat classes and prices telling you what you can get and what the restrictions are) - lowest price least options, easy really.

Parisfanatic, the staff told me to move( change seat) once train departed. No one checked our ticket. Train did not stop once we left Waterloo. Saw no staff at all until I walked two cars back to the bar car. My personal experience.
