Directions to Hotel Sofia

Hi all

The lady at Hotel Sofia has given me directions to the hotel.Please see below

%26quot;From Gare du Nord you could walk 10min walking distance take BD Magenta then straight ahead Bd Barbes and Rue Sofia is perpendicular to Bd Barbes and Paralel to Bd Rochechouart%26quot;

I will be arriving at Gare du Nord from London.

Is Bd Magenta the name of a road?Does she mean that I can reach Hotel Sofia (21 Rue Sofia, Montmarte area) just by walking wthout the need to take the metro?

I couldn%26#39;t grasp what she meant,and she is taking a long time to reply me so I thought i could seek some help here to better understand the directions.

Yes within walking distance if you are not carrying heavy luggage.

It is a neighborhood where you have to be streetwise esp. if you are a woman traveling alone.

You take metro line 4 to Barbes-Rouchechouart (direction porte de Clignancourt) and it is only 1 stop.

From rue de Sofia it it a short and pleasant walk to Montmartre.

Barbes , seems to me the place to by drugs, see a lot fo %26quot;girls%26quot; , where you can buy stolen handy, or watch imigrants from africa doing their daily business . Do read first the guides or ask for more info if you plan to stay there. I do go 3 times a year to Paris , but I would NEVER stay in the Barbes area. Why are you doing this ?
