Restaurant suggestions

Arriving Friday morning and only have one night in Paris. We like local French restaurants but somewhat upscale. Can anyone recommend a place? We had dinner for New Years at a small wonderful restaurant with great sole a few years ago. It was behind the Notre Dame.

We were just in Paris earlier this month and for an upscale restaurant, we went to La Tour D%26#39;Argent. The service was superb, the wine excellent, views were wonderful (ask for a window seat with a view of Notre Dame and the Seine) and the food good. The souffle for dessert was exquisite. It is rather pricey but worthwhile, at least for us. The address is 15 %26amp; 17 Quai de la Tournelle, Paris V.

Not sure they%26#39;re going to get in to Tour d%26#39;Argent in 2 days... don%26#39;t you need to reserve a bit more in advance..?

It%26#39;s possible that places like Tour d%26#39;Argent, L%26#39;Ambroise, Taillevent, and and Arpege might cost a pretty penny (up to $1,000 for two). However, there are places like Alain Ducasse%26#39;s Aux Lyonnais, L%26#39;Os Moelle, Cafe Moderne which are certainly upscale, but not quite so expensive. In fact, you can expect to spend well under 200 euro for two for dinner at these places. The New York Times travel section reviews these restaurants, so you may wish to check it out online at www.nytimes.com

I can%26#39;t speak highly enough about Le Coupe Chou

in the 5th, one block off rue des ecoles.

The restaurant was charming, the food was superb,

the service was top notch and the bill was extremely

reasonable.

If you want a name and a large bill, this is not the place

place for you.

Randy Silver Photo needs to get a commission for Le Coupe Chou. We also went to this restaurant on his recommendation and we loved it. It was a completely different feel than Le Tour D%26quot;ARgent, but I enjoyed it just as much for much less money. It is a charming restaurant, covered with vines on the outside and old world feeling inside. We were able to get last minute reservations for Le Coupe Chou. For Le Tour D%26#39;Argent we made the reservations about a week in advance, which I was grateful for since most upscale restaurants we were not able to get reservations for. Enjoy your dinner wherever you end up!
