Can you use Railpass to travel from Nice to Monaco, or to...

We have purchased a 5 day 3 country rail pass to get us from Italy to Amsterdam and are only covering 3 days worth of travel. Can we use the pass to travel to and from Nice to Monaco? or maybe Nice to and from Cannes?

Theoretically yes as trains in the Nice area are managed by the SNCF as all trains in France. The only train you have to reserve your seats on is the TGV but we don%26#39;t use the TGV from Nice to either Cannes or Monaco.

Yes, if the pass is valid for France. Although the actual train fare is only 20 Euro or less in 1st class.

and I wonder how you can use a 3 country rail pass to go from Italy to Amsterdam without having to pay extra, because you journey covers more than 3 countries.

Thank you all for replying. I am still shaking on the train travel. However, the reason I can use the pass to get to Amsterdam is because the small countries above Germany are consider one on the rail and are referred to as Benelux. Go figure. On My trip I will be traveling from Milan to Nice to Paris to Amsterdam. Railpass.com has more info.

Mind4You,

Former East Bay resident here... just did some of your trip in reverse. Don%26#39;t forget to reserve on the train before you go!!!! If you do the reservation there (which you can) then you might only get Milan to Ventimiglia depending on the train. (Some trains they won%26#39;t reserve in the next country... or so I found). The reservation on the Eurostars cost 5-12 euros for me, but was worthwhile.

I wouldn%26#39;t waste a train pass day (not sure why you bought extra days unless that was the least they sold, but that seems odd, anyway...). The price from Nice to Monaco is only 5 euros!!!! (you can check it on SNCF%26#39;s website)

On the other hand, you get to travel for a full day on the pass once you mark a day and if you are doing a day trip (it%26#39;s VERY close) then it might well be worth using the pass instead of a return. :o) But still, the day return isn%26#39;t more than about 12 euros.

Have fun. :o)
