Hi, like many others i%26#39;m for Paris in early November. Although i look forward to seeing the sights I hope to enjoy the bars etc. However i%26#39;ve heard the drinks are expensive -
Please update me on which venues to visit to enjoy a few beers

There is one %26quot;bar%26quot; that I love called: Au General La Fayette. It%26#39;s on the corner of r. La Fayette and r. Drouot. Metro stop: Le Pelletier. They have over 100 different beers and a more than decent kitchen.

You should be able to find plenty of suggestions by using the %26#39;Search%26#39; feature on the forum... you%26#39;ll have to spend a few minutes reading, but they%26#39;re out there.
Could be that drinks are tier-priced like coffees are, never noticed... that is, cheaper standing at the counter than sitting at a table. Outside seating is usually the most expensive (if the cafe is using the tier system).
Popular nightlife areas are around Oberkampf and Canal St Martin, less tourist-oriented than Latin Qtr.

Horn,
I would recommend Stollys %26amp; Lizzard Lounge. Stollys is fairly cheap(ish). The beer is good %26amp; they do some good cocktails. Both bars are owned by the same people. Fairly laid back atmosphere. Music style depends on staff selection, but tends to be up to date good-stuff on the whole! They are both open til 2ish - which is when the clubs start getting going. I don%26#39;t really like clubbing, but when in Paris, try the Batofar - its a club in lighthouseboat thingy on the Seine. Take metro to Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand (if memory serves me well!).

Should have prices. Generally it%26#39;s €4-€5 a pint in a normal French bar/cafe and €6-€7 in an Irish/English bar.
Happy-hours are all over the place and are usually from 5-8pm.

cheers, very helpful tips

Horn, we are always looking for places to taste beer whenever we travel. Ptegan on this forum has a very nice website
www.parispubs. com that lists many beer bars. We were
in Paris April 2005 and found 7-8E pints to be the norm, so
checking out the happy hours really helps.

Hi! I will be there early Nov. also! Can%26#39;t wait. Not my first time, and I can recommend Le Caveau de la Huchette in the Latin Quarter on the street by the same name. It is a %26quot;jazz cellar%26quot;. But, the cover is only about 9E and they have great music and a very unpretentious group in the downstairs %26quot;vault%26quot;. There are some regulars that come to swing dance, but a lot of tourists too. I%26#39;ll be there between Nov. 6-15 and plan to visit a couple times.
