Hotel Britannique, Hotel de l'Abbaye, Hotel Luxembourg Parc...

I%26#39;ve already made reservations at Hotel Luxembourg Parc, but I am still searching for other hotels because I%26#39;m a little concerned I haven%26#39;t read too many reviews about it.

I came across Hotel Britannique, which gets fabulous reviews on TripAdvisor and it%26#39;s a great value. (almost too good to be true!) They only have a Standard Double room with queen bed available. All the Superior Kings are booked. Does anyone know if the standard doubles are small?

Some of the other hotels I%26#39;m still considering:

--Hotel de l%26#39;Abbaye

--Hotel d%26#39;Aubusson

We%26#39;re looking for charming, with a touch of luxury for under 300 Euros. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi, Lunch -

You might try the HENRI IV RIVE GAUCHE, lovely 3-star located in the 5th, just one block from the Seine and Notre Dame. We stayed there for 8 days last month and just loved it and the location. Had a great room with a view (twin beds with one headboard) for 162E a night. Very fresh and clean with nice decor and lobby.

Hi, I think the Britannique is not in the same quality %26#39;league%26#39; as are Luxembourg Parc, de l%26#39;Abbaye and d%26#39;Aubusson.

The Luxembourg Parc was fully renovated and upgraded a couple of years ago. It may have changed names, don%26#39;t know that for sure. There are 15 reviews here on TA - did you read those..?

The standard doubles at the Britannique are small and the superior kings aren%26#39;t much bigger. What you might be interested in is their junior suite, which is about twice the size of the standard double and is well under 300 euros. The one I had last spring was about 240 euros. If you haven%26#39;t already done so, I suggest you ask if they have any of those available. I was very happy with my stay there. The hotel was comfortable, well located, and had some details that I%26#39;ve not encountered in 3 stars before -- like Annick Goutal toiletries in the bath and Mariage Freres teas in the breakfast room.

nycamb-- Thanks for the suggestion on Hotel Britannique. I didn%26#39;t think about the suite option!

|||

If there isn%26#39;t a photo of the junior suite on the hotel%26#39;s website, check www.parisby.com, as they have more photos than are on the hotel%26#39;s own website.

In my opinion, you made a good choice with choosing the Luxembourg Parc. It%26#39;s very well-regarded and the location is excellent. I%26#39;ve contacted them to get rate and room information last July and they were very forthcoming and welcoming. I find the Abbaye to be very overpriced and I am sure it%26#39;s because of its popularity. The standard double rooms at L%26#39;Abbaye are about 11 sq. m. which is really tiny to justify paying 199 euro even if breakfast is included in the rate. The d%26#39;Aubusson is totally overpriced too. I guess the service is first-rate but the rooms don%26#39;t seem very charming.

Try the Le Madison on Blvd. St. Germain as you can get a spacious room overlooking the boulevard for about 245 euro. These are the only rooms you should consider as I read the inner rooms are dark and unattractive.

We recently stayed at Hotel Luxembourg Parc and I could not recommend it highly enough. It was a treat to stay there and if it is affordable then treat yourself!!

Luxembourg Park is a nice hotel but the building just closed to the the hotel is in big work atthis time.

You can also have a look on thess hotels :

www.hotelsenat.com

www.espritsaintgermain.com ( this one is a little bit expensive but just renovated and very nice )

In Hotel Le Senat, if you have the budget ask for a duplex with %26quot;terrasse%26quot; budget is around 300/380 euros ( I believe ).

Hi lunchtime,

I stayed at the Britannique in a standard double (which is a Queen size bed) in September. What you need to know is that if you want a view and a balcony here you need a standard double room. Kings are on the wrong side of the hotel.

At first we were assigned a small standard double room on the second floor. Within 30 minutes we were told there was a mix up and we were moved to a nicer bigger room also a standard double, I think it was #523.

The hotel was clean and had a shabby chic charm. The staff was just great and we were around the corner from an awsome bakery where we had breakfast every day.

We could get anywhere we wanted with ease. Many sites we walked to, the staff would have walked us to a few if we let them :) %26amp; They always asked where we were going to eat and if was possible gave us discount slips.

JMHO I am used to much nicer 4 %26amp; 5 star hotels but somehow this was good by me. I wanted to focus on the city and spend my time and money there. I wanted an excellent location and I wanted a clean hotel that made me feel safe and cared for. Somehow the Britannique was also romantic.

I guess it is all in what you want but My hubby and I would go back to the Britannique.

Gail
