We are visiting Paris in Decemeber and would like to see a Moulin Rouge show. Just wondering if people think it would be better to do this as part of an organised tour or on our own? Also I know that there are a couple of different shows during the night, any reccomendations as to which is the best to see?

I have never been to Moulin Rouge but I found this tour on the web site. It is the 10th one down. I think this company was one of the ones recommended on this site.
The advantage of a tour is central paris pick up and then pick up
at the Moulin Rouge after the show. For the money you get a tour of the city at night as well as the show.

I have not found any tours which include dinner if you wanted to go that route.
i do know if the seats are better with dinner rather than just going for the show and champagne or wine.

We just planned the show on our own. One afternoon we went to the Moulin Rouge and saw the prices for the show + dinner and the show + champagne. We bought it for the next night. We had a nice time. We got there a little early and had a great time talking with other tourists at our table. Have fun!

This one is a little hard to answer because this is not for everyone. We did the dinner and show on our own. We just had our concierge make the reservations. I enjoyed it,my husband hated it. For the first two hours, while we are having dinner, they have 2 singers out and a band. It was a little cheesy for us, although we went with the flow. After dinner, there was dancing, which I enjoyed with my husband (they play popular songs from the 50%26#39;s, some 60%26#39;s and yes, they did sing %26quot;Feelings.%26quot; When the show finally started, I liked it. My husband was ready to leave after an hour. I thought I would see more of the Can Can and there was just one or two songs that they danced the Can Can. He would be willing to try the Lido Show or Crazy Horse Show. If I had to do it over on my own, I would skip dinner and have dinner at any of the wonderful restaurants in Paris, and go just for the show (although the seats aren%26#39;t as good). My husband said, he would have preferred taking a Seine cruise at night (which we never ended up doing). We%26#39;re in our forty%26#39;s and when we go back, we will definitely skip this. I know people love going to this, it%26#39;s just not for everyone.

We went to the show and 1/2 bottle of champagne only ( It was about $100 pp). If you have seen %26quot;Jubilee%26quot; show in Las Vegas it is about the same and the same cost.
We did have good seats! The girls swing out into the audience right in front of us.
(CrazyHorse shows more nudity and is smaller place. The girls are behind transparent curtains.)
They are not shows we would return to after doing it once just too expensive.

To Ihavetravelbug:
Why did you say that the seats were not as good as seats for dinner show? I have not been to the dinner show so I do not know how different the seating is.
We had really good seats when we went to the show only. What is the difference?

Thank you everyone for your input. We think we might do a package of Seine river cruise, dinner at the Eiffel tower and then the show.
Can%26#39;t wait!!

We had dinner and were seated right in the front (which was full). After dinner was served, we saw the host seat people just for the show and they were seated all the way in the back. Maybe this doesn%26#39;t happen all the time, and it just happened when we were there. It%26#39;s good to know that if you are going to the show only, you can get decent seats, like you did.

I did the package tour- Seine River cruise and then the late show at the Moulin Rouge for the Feerie show. It really worked for me and made for a nice evening out. We had dinner on our own before the tour, instead of eating at the Moulin Rouge. It included a bottle of champange per table (I think there were 6-8 at our table).
When the show was over (around 1am if I remember) the tour bus dropped us off at a stop right by our hotel. It was good, I would recommend the package tour.

One more thing- with the package tour, we had good seats. We were on the first raised level in the middle of the theatre. It was a bit cramped, but we had a great view.

We just got back from Paris, and did the Moulin Rouge 11pm show. I had been to the Lido on a previous trip, and I think I liked it better. I guess we had those %26quot;great expectations%26quot; and so the show was bound to disappoint a bit. It seemed like seating was first come first serve, and so since we were so far back in th eline to get in, we were seated far to the left, and so had an uncomfortable view the entire time...notwithstanding the fact we had paid a significant amount of money. Were we happy we did it? Well, I guess we can now say we did it. :) Folks who took the tour hated it, kept complaining about how the %26quot;night tour%26quot; was hopping from hotel to hotel pickin gup other folks. I would suggest doing it on your own...you can easily take the metro up to the show...a stop is there righ tin front of the moulin rouge, and then taxiing back to your hotel...all very easy. But if money is tight, I would spend it elsewhere!
