Hotel, apartment, laundry & such

Trying to make hotel or apartment reservations and have a few questions. Online, it appears that many three-star hotels (such as Hotel Les Jardins du luxembourg) are full from May 2-12, 2006:

1. Is there an event near this area at that time?

2. Or, is it too early and hotel systems are not making reservations this far in advance?

3. What sights are trusted for apartment rentals?

3. If I can%26#39;t find an apartment, is there any place that we can take our laundry? We don%26#39;t want to pack clothes for 10 days without access to a washing machine.

Many thanks.

Dirty clothes ? If the hotel doesn%26#39;t have a laundry service there are public laundrettes in Paris - av. price about €3 - 4 for a 7kg load and you should allow about €3 to get it good and dry - allow about an hour.

For the nearest to your hotel try www.pagesjaunes.com and search lavaries in your arrondissement.

Hi, I haven%26#39;t identified an apart yet, but when I do, I%26#39;ll tell you! But I wanted to let you know: there are laundry places everywhere. In the area you%26#39;re looking (just down the street from the jardins de Lux.) there is a laundry place. I don%26#39;t remember the street, but you%26#39;re sure to find it...if you don%26#39;t, ask the hotel or any store in the area. They even sell powder there and softening stuff for the dryer. The washer takes about 40 minutes, I think, and the dryer is industrial - -but takes longer.

I am also keeping it in mind because even though we%26#39;re looking only at apartments with washer/dryers, they%26#39;re usually a combo, and those take FOREVER, especially to dry, and are very small. I don%26#39;t want to be spending oodles of time waiting around for wash/dryer.

Many sites for rentals - I%26#39;m using VRBO which includes some direct owners, and some agents who take care of owners%26#39; places. These agents also have their own websites.

There are lots of self-service laundries in Paris, alled %26quot;lavaries%26quot; as mentioned above.

I don%26#39;t know about the reliable apt rental webs, but others here can advise.

It is a bit early to book for May, at least using %26#39;booking%26#39; engines. If you see a hotel you like, you can locate their official website and book directly. I%26#39;ve booked w/ my hotel 6 mos. in advance via email a few times...

We just rented an apartment through ParisPerfect (parissperfect.com)and it was almost perfect! I think most of their apts have views of the Eiffel Tower and ours was stunning. We had a two-bedroom, two-bath with a fold out bed in the living room. Excellent location and it did have a washer/dryer. The combo machines like this work ok, but do not dry well at all, and you usually have to hang them for a bit to complete the drying. It was ok, but I think a lavarie might be better since you would get all the wash done at one time.

One point, remember that you can wear your clothes more than one day at a time. Our rule was that jeans got worn twice at least and sometimes three times. They really don%26#39;t show the dirt and no one is going to know that you have worn them more than once! Also, bring several scarves. The french women wear them all the time and they make one outfit look like two or three just by changing the scarf!

Have fun
