Musee D'Orse restaurant

I am arranging to meet some friends at Musee D%26#39;Orse in a few weeks. We are all coming from different cities, so will most likely meet already there. We thought about having lunch all together in the museum restaurant .

Does anyone know whether the restaurant in the museum is any good? and most importantly, do they accept bookings in advance?

Thank you!

The restaurant in the museum is beautiful, but the food is industrial stuff prepared by a food services company. It won%26#39;t make you ill, but you won%26#39;t be raving about it, either.

If your primary purpose(s) is to visit the Musée d%26#39;Orsay and get together with your friends, then luncheon there will be convenient and the food will suit the purpose. Likewise, luncheon at Café Marly in the Louvre will also suit equally well for the same purpose. I wouldn%26#39;t take it quite to the %26quot;..won%26#39;t make you ill..%26quot; description...but the sentiment is probably a fair one. For something to put in your mouth between conversations with friends, the food is just fine....it%26#39;s also a wonderful space to sit and rest weary legs and feet after miles of museum corridors.

A very convivial and delicious restaurant very close by the Musee d%26#39;Orsay, at 48, rue de Verneuil is Le Rouge Vif. It is a bistro with a Southwestern bent. They accept reservations:

Thank you and sorry for misspelling the museum name - too bad TA does not have an editing facility

I like it there!

Good %26quot;bite to eat%26quot; place.

Hello Joyst,

There are two restaurants in the d%26#39;Orsay...three if you consider the cafeteria.....You might want to clarify which one you will meet at. The one %26quot;under the clock%26quot; is on the floor below the cafeteria. I dont believe they take reservations so you will just have to wait for a table.

There is a place next door I believe it is called Fregate that is quite good.

Goodness, I%26#39;ve eaten at both the beautiful restaurant at Musee d%26#39;Orsay and I%26#39;d say the food was better than industrial...Not Michelin 3 star but for a museum, it%26#39;s good and the setting is spectacular...I saw French people having leisurely Sunday lunches the day we were there..There is also a buffet in this resto and perhaps that is what is industrial..We ordered off the menu and it was a very fine lunch..

I was under the impression that Cafe Marly was a Costes Bros establishment..at least once upon a time...Again, the setting is yummy..Their terrace is primo people watching turf, and the food is good if not Michelin starred...I remember how delicious the iced tea was because it was brewed fresh tea that had been chilled...no ice cubes in teh glass..just delicious frosty tea...A good club sandwich can be had there as well and it%26#39;s very popular so reservations are probably a good thing...But it is at the Louvre, not the Musee d%26#39;Orsay...If you want to eat in the museum I say go for the elegant one in the museum...There should be a great view from the rooftop casual one so visit that,too...Bon appetit...

I have only eaten at the Musee D%26#39;Orsay cafe on the top level.

I thought it was rather good food although probably prepared elsewhere and transported in (I guess that%26#39;s what %26#39;industrial%26#39; refers to).

However, if it is a busy tourist season don%26#39;t expect to get a seat at the cafe at lunch time unless you stand in a long queue first.

I ate at the Musee d%26#39;Orsay (their beautiful restaurant behind the clock on the 2nd floor) a few month ago and thought it was delicious, if industrial! I had a grilled salmon that was cooked just right and served with a very tasty sauce. Cannot remember what I had on previous visits but have always been pleased and I love the decor.
